We’ve had our ups and downs here in Steamboat this ski season. Due to one of the most lackluster January’s on record we were struggling there for a while. Feb treated us well and we had ourselves some fun with a couple weeks of great storms moving through our neck of the woods. At the end here we are well below average but making the most of it.
Still looking forward to closing weekend with the great bands coming in to play. The Infamous Stringdusters hail from Boston and Nashville and create an excellent blend of bluegrass, country and jam band talent. They play on Saturday 4/11 at 3:30 in gondola square. Also headlining the weekend is Grammy award winning reggae funk band Steel Pulse. These guys have been around since 1975 and have definitely standed the test of time. Their playing in gondola square on closing day 4/12!
Closing day will for sure be a lot of fun but I’m personally looking forward to climbing and kayaking this season. With the runoff coming at a faster rate than previous years the yampa river is primed and ready for some day floats and good times. Cliffs are already melted and ready to go as well. Looks like it’s going to be a great summer season here in ole Steamboat. If your looking to visit there are some great events around the corner like the Mustang Roundup and the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo!
Camping season is also almost here with all the snow going away so fast and the temps rising. North Routt county will be where it’s at for all the best spots this season. Although fire danger might be a bit higher than other years with the lack of snow pack in the high country so let’s all be careful out there with our open flames.
Well that’s all for me today be safe out there and as always have fun and smile a lot!
Oh and if you need a place to stay during your visit try out these guys their awesome at what they do!
